I took the photo behind this painting just after stepping into the woods at Hunter Road Fields in Freeport, Maine. I turned around to catch the sunset settling over the blueberry fields, one of those quiet moments that makes you stop and take in where you are.

About
I’m Sonia Jones, a fine artist and designer from Freeport, Maine.
My work begins outdoors. I find inspiration through hiking, observing the landscape, and photographing the quiet moments that are easy to pass by. From coastlines and waterways to forests and mountain views, nature is where I feel most grounded and most like myself.
Over the years, I’ve learned how important it is to slow down and reconnect with the natural world. During periods of change in my own life, spending more time outside helped me reset, see things differently, and rediscover meaning in the world around me. It taught me to pay attention to the small things: light moving through the trees, reflections on water, changing skies, textures, colors, and the constant movement of the seasons.
That practice of noticing nature became the foundation of Laconica.
Through my paintings and photography, I create fine art to reconnect you to the Earth. My hope is that when one of my pieces becomes part of your space, it serves as a reminder to slow down, look closer, and stay connected to the natural world we all call home.
Laconica is also the creative home for the other branches of my work. Through Salty Serif Studio, I create thoughtful brand design, while Evergreen Drive brings my creativity into everyday goods. Each branch has its own identity and purpose, but they all stem from the same creative roots.
